For the younger guys, Bultaco made a bike in 250 and 350 2-stroke called the Alpina. tI was roughly a trials bike with a bigger tank and seat and higher top gears. I had a 250 and a 350 and loved them both. I wouldn't have ventured far on the highway on the 250, but the 350 was another matter.

The Alpina 175, with its practically "square" bore/stroke ratio of 60.9 x 60mm, pulls surprisingly well from low rpm. Quite a bit of de-tuning has been done to this engine, which was originally fitted to the Bultaco TSS 175 road racer and put out more power per cubic inch displacement than any other Bultaco engine.

Bultaco added other models, such as the Metralla, Frontera and Lobito; and it enjoyed continued success in both racing victories and bikes sales throughout the 1970s. A Bultaco won the world trials title nine times between 1968.

LaGrange, GA. Inmates, I need advice on what to do with my Bultaco Alpina 250. When I got the bike, it was in pieces so assembled them to see what I had. Here's what I ended up with. The major missing pieces are the exhaust and airbox. It also needs cables, wiring, steering stem bearings, rings, fork seals, carb kit, a spacer for the front.
